For potential students:

Q. I am thinking of majoring in Environmental Planning and Design. What sorts of career paths are linked to this major?

Q. I am currently enrolled at a County College but am preparing to transfer to Rutgers next year for Landscape Architecture. What can I do to make the most of my time here?

 

For current or recent students:

Q. I need some spatial data for my class project. Can you get it here for me?

Q. I am interested shortening my time as a student at Rutgers. Can I take classes in the summer and shave off a semester?

Q. I have some extra time this summer/semester/winter and would like to read an extra book or two. Can you suggest anything good?

Q. Will you write me a letter of reference or recommendation?

Q. The Environmental Planning degree requires 5 “required electives” from a list that ends with the phrase “or advisor-approved courses”.  What are they?  How do I get my advisor to approve courses?

Q. I am unhappy with my FINAL grade in your class and would like to see it changed. What can I do?

Q. I see a class listed as Special Problems, can I take that? When does it meet and who teaches it?

Q. I'd rather take a few classes at a County College. How will I know if they count? How many can I take?


Relating to graduate studies:

Q. I am considering grad school at Rutgers and would like to be your student. Can you get me in? Can you fund my work? Is your program good? Is your program good for me? Does your work fit well with my interests?

Q. I am a graduate student near the end of my classes in Ecology/Planning/History/Marine Sciences/AgEcon and realize that I might need some GIS skills for my thesis. Is there a class you can recommend that might help get me started?


Relating to Landscape Architecture:

Q. I am interested in finding out whether I should major in Landscape Architecture. The only spring classes without prereqs look like Landscape Architecture Construction I: Site Engineering 11:550:341 and Architectural Design 11:550:433. Should I try to sign up for one of these?

Q. I am interested shortening my time as a student in landscape architecture. Can I take a studio in the summer and shave off a semester?

Q. What are some worthwhile examples of landscape architecture that I could visit:
...without leaving New Jersey?
...near New Jersey?
...far, far away?

 


I apologize for these impersonal answers to what are often personal questions. But, since I answer some of these 50-100 times each year, this is a much more efficient way to work through the initial answer and get to the real person and their problem.
